v1.0.2: PowerPC, auto updating
« on: August 28, 2009, 06:32:23 PM »
First, I really like teleport. It has its fair number of weird bugs requiring me to turn it off then turn it on again to get it working right, but on the whole I still prefer it to Synergy. I use it every day and am extremely glad to have it.

Anyway, using the "check for updates" button in the pref pane on my G5, I was informed teleport had been updated to 1.0.2. So I hit download.

On restart, the pref pane simply states that teleport doesn't work on PowerPCs.

The release notes don't mention any dropping of compatibility (unless the vague "fixed misc issues" means PPC support was a bug not a feature...), and I can't find v1.0.1 to download again.

Can we get a smarter update checker? Or more thorough release notes? Or at least an archive of downloads for past versions?

Well it's difficult to have a smarter updater when you see the problem long after the current release is in the wild.. I've just updated the "what's new" text and teleport shows to mention the lack of PPC support.

You can either get 1.0.2 legacy with PPC and Tiger/Panther support here: http://www.abyssoft.com/software/telepo ... legacy.zip

Or you can get 1.0.1 that is fully compatible with 1.0.2 here: http://www.abyssoft.com/software/telepo ... ort101.zip

Sorry for the inconvenience.

[edit: apparently some users have problems with 1.0.2 legacy, so I suggest you use 1.0.1 if you're on PPC and/or Tiger or earlier]
