How about a Windows version?
« on: July 24, 2005, 09:37:11 AM »
I'd love to be able to usse this in Windows XP too. I write tutorials for a lot of cross platform applications, and frequently need to switch over to a PC to check things out, make screen dumps etc.

If you could manage that, KVM manucturers all over the world could shut down tomorrow... :D

Absolutely!  I wanna get rid of my 2nd set of keyboard and mice for my pc off my desk!  If i could use teleport over to my xp machine, that'll simply be awesome.

I would also love the hell out of this. Right now I'm using Synergy for this, but this app looks a LOT better.

Oh my god it's sick how much i would love this. Especially considering Bonjour is now available on windows, this might not be too hard? Methinks that apple will probably include teleport functionality in a future iteration of OS X but in the meantime, i wants me some winderz support!

OK... so you can already go from mac to pc to linux using a host on any of those types of computers with a program called Synergy (synergy2.sourceforge.net). Teleport kicks ass becasue it's easy to set up, but if you need the cross-platform funciton and have a half hour to figure out how to configure it all, use Synergy.

Since Synergy is open source, I'm sure it's possible to get teleport working with synergy, though it's probably not worth JuL's effort.

Please oh please make a windows version. There is nothing like this available for windows. After hour s of 'googling' and searching and reading, there are tons of synergy knock offs but none have the option to use only one monitor. This is what I drastically need! I have 1 - 22" monitor and need a software just like teleport for windows. PLEASE!

d00msday3r3, I don't know how you might use teleport with one monitor.  Any configuration I have used teleport with requires a display per computer.  I do have a couple of inputs on my monitors, so I can add another machine and switch the monitor input to control it via teleport.  When I have had the need at times to have a Windows computer nearby, I installed Synergy on both my Mac and Windows machine and was able to use it without disturbing teleport.  Of course, Synergy lacks a lot of teleport features and is much more confusing to set up and use.

Please do not make a windows version or even remotely consider it.  The people requesting it are a little short sighted and don't clearly understand the problem.

For everyone that is asking for this, it is more complex than you might think.  Synergy already exists and pretty much does everything except drag and drop files and pasteboard.  You are basically asking this project to stand still while it is reworked for multiple environments/platforms which will ultimately dilute the quality as a whole.

This project is like Textmate.  Great at what it does and the platform it was designed for.  Please don't ask them to screw it up.

I've been a Mac addict  for 20 years, and as a professional using a computer for tasks beyond general  consumer needs, I concur that there is definitely  no  parallel platform. However, since our software products were ported to Windows to maintain  our position in  the IT  market, there are times when I  am sadly  forced into using a PC.

Many professionals use multi-platform setups and a real demand from the industry for a Windows compatible Teleport exists. IMHO, Synergy is not  a solution.

It  was the expansion of our freeware products for Mac to other platforms that  enabled them to become, 12 years later, a global leader in their domain - at an extremely  attractive price with  tens of thousands of downloads from the general public, and B2B demands for API solutions from other world leaders in  industry  and commerce.

France - a very  Mac-friendly  country - is well known for being a cradle of simple, but  innovative and popular IT solutions. I sincerely  hope that  Jule will one day be able to  profit from such a move. The demand is market-technology driven.
