Problems / Re: 1.1.2.a
« on: August 08, 2012, 08:12:08 AM »
Just installed 1.1.2a and (after having firewall problems) it all works fine. I'm running 10.7.4 on both machines - iMac teleporting to MBA. Do have swipe control from magic mouse between spaces, do have volume and media control from dedicated keys on iMac keyboard controlling MBA - and no more double cursors. Not bragging, just posting to let you know it can work.

Problems / Re: Intermittent, Teleport works One Way
« on: August 08, 2012, 07:54:43 AM »
I just upgraded my MBA and iMac (both running 10.7.4) to teleport 1.1.2a from 1.1.1 - everything had previously been working fine although it had been a huge struggle to get the two machines taking to each other when first upgrading to the previous version. I have the built-in firewall on on both machines.

After upgrading to teleport 1.1.2a I had the same problem as mking0310 - red line indicating where the shared screen was but no teleporting of cursor from iMac to MBA. I messed around removing trusted hosts, trying encryption, automatically accepting and so on - all no use, the MBA was not asking to allow the connection and that was that. In order to check it wasn't some weird port thing I shared my iMac and teleported to it from the MBA - that worked fine so I knew it had to something on the MBA that was preventing it working.

Additional info: when I arranged the layout in the teleport pref pane, I was getting a generic desktop image (blue galaxy spiral image) instead of my customised one and no 'options' on mouse rollover.

I fixed it by doing this on my MBA (although I'm not sure why it worked, so I post it here so someone else can try it and see if it works for them):
select Security & Privacy pref pane
select Firewall,
unlock to make changes
authenticate (ignore the fact that the authentication panel says 'System Preferences is trying to pair the remote' and type the password anyway)
select Firewall options
scroll down list of allowed incoming connections
highlight teleportd.app
hit - (minus sign) to remove teleport from the list
hit OK

On the next attempt to teleport, from the iMac to the MBA, permission was requested, I hit allow and the desktop image showed up in the layout panel, options appeared and everything worked properly again. However - teleportd.app has NOT been added back to the list of allowed apps in the Firewall settings, which is about as confusing as a power-switch on a banana.

I still think Apple should bundle this with every Mac.

Problems / 1.1.1 crashing - either a clue or an irrelevancy
« on: December 18, 2011, 03:25:38 PM »
This may be a complete coincidence but in the interests of bug-hunting I hope it might help and not just spread confusion. I've had 1.1.1 crash on me four times this month (new iMac and original MBA both running latest Lion upgrades) on each occasion teleport spontaneously quits and the icon disappears from the menu bar - twice on both machines: first one, then the other within a few seconds. Relaunches easily enough by re-checking the activation box in system prefs but I have to re-authenticate.
Console says;
Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0   libobjc.A.dylib                  0x00007fff8f5e7158 objc_msgSend_vtable5

The only thing I can add that may or may not be relevant is that I'm pretty sure that I've been using Skype to make voice calls when it happens. I was curious as to whether anyone else is experiencing the same set of circumstances.

Problems / Re: 1.1.1 not working
« on: December 10, 2011, 10:16:24 PM »
Just wanted to note that after posting my previous comment I had that odd freeze event a couple of hours later. It may be associated with a kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size error (http://https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3216687?start=30&tstart=0) and nothing to do with Teleport. Current rumour has that as a Flash problem so probably unrelated.

I too am getting spontaneous crashes with identical thread info;

Code: [Select]
Thread 8 Crashed:
0   libobjc.A.dylib               0x00007fff88fdae90 objc_msgSend + 16
1   com.abyssoft.teleport         0x00000001000152c2 -[TPIncomingTransfer _receivedData:] + 244
2   com.abyssoft.teleport         0x0000000100020e23 -[TPTCPSecureSocket _receivedData:] + 564
etc...

iMac driving a 1st gen MBA - both with latest Lion and Teleport 1.1.1

I had several problems getting 1.1.1 to run in the first place and had to trash the two com.abyssoft.teleport.plist files in my library preference folder (note, hold down option key when selecting GO menu in Finder in order to get to your user library) and re-install the teleport preference pane on both computers. Now it occasionally crashes and pulls the icon out of the menu bar. Re-launches easily enough. I did have a very odd failure-to-return-cursor event a couple of weeks ago when the iMac stopped accepting any input to wake it from screen-saver. No idea if it was related, but I was using Teleport to work on my laptop when the iMac stopped taking input (bluetooth everything) - system logs didn't offer any clue either - had to hard re-boot.

Problems / forum search broken/Lion question
« on: June 30, 2011, 04:36:33 AM »
I was searching the forum for 'Lion' and got an SQL Error

Does anyone know if Teleport 1.02 will work on Lion?

I still think Apple should buy this off Jul, bundle it in the OS and pay him a royalty.

Feedback / Re: This probably shouldn't work - but it does...

if you are still watching  this forum, I  would be extremely interested in knowing  about  that  hack - I  have a 12" G3 iBook as part of my  set up. i  would also  like to  know how to do  the same thing  with  the Mac Mini dual core Intel.

My iBook was a G4 so I can't guarantee it will work on yours, but I used a German applescript - you can find a link to it, and an English version here; http://www.dslreports.com/faq/5779 It worked fine but sometimes produced an interrupt on re-boot which was easy to deal with (just followed the prompts).

Problems / TextExpander
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:44:31 AM »
Anyone using TextExpander and having problems when teleporting?

The app is VERY handy if you have got used to M$oft's auto-correcting wordprocessing software and have been typing 'teh' instead of 'the' (eg) for years, like I have.

It works just fine on all my machines unless I use it via teleport when I get extra letters from nowhere. So 'teh' turns into 'taveha' and 'fro', instead of turning into 'for' turns into 'favroa' - where is this extra 'ava' coming from?

Feedback / 琀攀猀琀 &
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:20:24 AM »
(that was 'test this' written in TexEdit on my iBook and then pasted into this comment form - Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Intel Mac Mini)

If I paste it into TextEdit and then cut and paste within the same machine, it works fine. I'm still using 3.7 though & I just live with this 'cos I don't want to lose the multiple screen functionality.

Interesting to see that my 'test' = 琀攀猀琀 as does euriwaru's 'test' so it's not a randomised garbage thing.

Feedback / This probably shouldn't work - but it does...
« on: September 18, 2006, 06:54:14 AM »
I use Teleport all the time and just added a Cinema Display to my Intel Mac Mini, which freed up my Sony 15" to go back as a main screen for my iBook (which has a hack on it to make it video-span rather than mirror). Here's what it looks like all set up;

Teleport allows the bluetooth keyboard and a mighty mouse to control all three screens.

Now here's the unexpected bit - I have the Sony set up in Teleport to be at the bottom right of the main 23" on the Mini - like this;

Then I have my iBook G4 setup like this;

So I can move the mouse to the lower right part of the main screen, which teleports me to the right screen, move down the 15" and then left, which takes me onto the laptop screen. If I'm on the laptop and want to get back to the main screen, I quickly flip the cursor to the right screen and then up to the top left corner of the 15" and it appears back on the 23" (leaving the cursor on the top left corner which I have set to be a 'disable screen saver' hot corner).

Now I don't know about anyone else - but I think that is cool!

{update March '08 - I've now changed the iBook for an MBA - both machines are running 10.5.2 with Teleport 1.0 & it all works perfectly - even with two screens on the laptop - file drag and drop too - brilliant stuff}

Teleport is such a cool app that Apple should {have} paid Julien royalties and bundled it in with Leopard.
