You should use the signup e-mail address at http://mail.abyssoft.com/mailman/listin ... yssoft.com

If you try that and get no response let me know and will try something else.

Hope that helps...

Problems / Re: forum search broken/Lion question

is there a beta or other prerelease to try with lion?  i have become so dependent on teleport, that i dont even HAVE a keyboard or mouse for my other computer. HA!  just trying to figure out if i should wait it out, or head down to Radio Shack.

How do you login to your Mac without a keyboard/mouse? teleport only runs after logging in. I wish there were a way to have it start before logging in -  have you figured out a way to do that?

I'm pretty sure you can't - only one at a time. Why not make an archive of them and then you can do it? Also 512M is the max.

The way the readme.pdf is worded it implies that only one at a time can be copied (it always uses the singular form file in the description, but the bold title has Files. So at the very least maybe Jul should clear up the readme.pdf file.

You can make a enhancement request.

So what do you have set for the meta-keys? Can you post an image of the teleport prefpanes? If not, just post the plist file - should be located in ~/Library/Preferences/com.abyssoft.teleport.plist

If you post the plist file - don't include the hex information for the TPHosts or TPTrustedHosts or CertificateIdentifier keys - just replace the info with "xxx" - not sure if this info would compromise any personal info or not, so just to be safe don't include it.

And just to be sure, does teleport die on either the slave or master (if so which one) when this behavior occurs?

And one more thing to post - the output of "lsof -i" both before and after the disconnect occurs on both the slave and master system.

I did a little more investigating of where teleport installs its files.

I removed everything to do with teleport on a Snow Leopard MacBook system and installed from scratch, and installed so that all users on the system could use it, but it didn't install it's files into the /Library directory but installed some in /Library and some in ~/Library - so now I'm not sure which one is correct. Despite the fact that I had these files installed in the /Library on the system before I removed them. No idea why it picked one location for one install and another location for another install. Seems pretty weird - maybe Jul knows something about why it would pick two different locations for two different installs.

In any event first look in both places (/Library and ~/Library) and make a copy of what it is on your system using some combination of one or the other sets of Terminal commands in the previous post.

Then remove everything except the copy you made in it's own folder (don't remove the install file that should be wherever you downloaded it to on your disk), then empty the trash and then reinstall and setup on both your systems.

If that fixes things then we should be able to tell if there is a difference between what you had installed when things were goofy and what is now installed when they are working. Depending on what is different will dictate what we can and can't look at in more detail. I'm hoping it's the Preferences file that got corrupted somehow, so make sure you pick the same setup parameters in the new install as you had in the old. May be a good idea to take a screen shot of the teleport setups (layout, security and options) before you remove anything so you can be sure of what you had.

If this reinstall does not fix the problem then not sure what to do, but no use in worrying about that for now.

So let us know how things go and good luck.

Please vote in the poll to see what version of teleport you are using.

What Terminal commands did you use to verify the files were on the system or not?

This is getting too confusing.

You need to remove everything on BOTH systems and reinstall on BOTH systems.

I can't see over your shoulder - you need to say what you're doing and where you're doing it.

Where are you at? Did you remove anything yet?

Also, forgot to ask how did you delete the files?

If you used the Finder to remove the files make sure they are gone before trying to do the install again. And you probably should empty the Trash after you removed the files so they are really really gone.

It looks like you have installed teleport for just a single user - is that correct or not?

If it is correct, then you have to use the second set of commands.

So, which way was it installed? If you're not sure look and see what you have. Are you familiar with using Terminal window and the command line interface?

-Bob

ps - you have to do this BEFORE you remove the teleport files - if you have already removed the teleport files, then it's too late, they don't exist any more. If that's the case, your only option is to just install from scratch and set your layout, security options, and options as you need.

You could do the following in a Terminal window:

   mkdir ~/teleport-testing
   cd ~/teleport-testing
   cp -R /Library/Caches/com.abyssoft.teleport-dev .
   cp /Library/Preferences/com.abyssoft.teleport-dev.plist .
   cp /Library/PreferencePanes/teleport-prerelease.prefPane
 .

If everything works, will tell you how to compare the two sets of files. If it doesn't have to try something else.

-Bob

ps - you might need to add a "sudo " in front of some of the above

pps - the above assumes that you installed teleport for all users, not just one. If you installed just for one user, make sure you're logged in as that user and just put a ~ in front of each location, e.g.

   mkdir ~/teleport-testing
   cd ~/teleport-testing
   cp -R ~/Library/Caches/com.abyssoft.teleport-dev .
   cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.abyssoft.teleport-dev.plist .
   cp ~/Library/PreferencePanes/teleport-prerelease.prefPane
 .
