I have a similar problem: iMac late 2009 master to MacBook Pro late 2001 (both running 10.7.5). It works great most of the time, but occasionally just stops working. For example, just now both machines have been up several days, no Teleport issues, then suddenly the mouse won't return from the slave machine. Turning off teleport on the slave frees it up, but the "controlling" icon is stuck on the master so I can't click anything. Unplugging the slave from the network seems to make teleportd on the master die, so now I have access to the screen again, but everything is in a weird state where I can move the cursor but nothing responds to clicks. Eventually I have to restart both machines to make Teleport work again.
It's understandable that things can't be perfect but it would be nice to have:
a) some "escape" key on the master that will get the cursor back without mouse/cursor movement
b) a way to undo the "clicks ignored" state that can be left when Teleport crashes. I can't think of a general solution that would work if you don't happen to have a terminal window open already
